Migrate or be killed...the life of Guyanese

Proud to be a GuyaneseI am proud to say that I am one of the presumably few Guyanese here today that could boast of being there in 1972 for the first Carifesta. I say few Guyanese because I am sure that many who were there like myself have migrated, or by some way not around today. I remember well, during that time I was doing some Gardening for Radio Announcer Mr. James Sydney (He had an early morning program entitled “It’s a Fact”) and Paulene Thomas (Aunti Cumsie) who also did programmes and shows in the late Wordsworth McAndrew styles. They lived in Aubrey Barker Street, South Ruimveldt Park, and our now Historic Festival City was in construction for Carifesta (i).
