Businessman Mohamed F. Khan, known as MFK, said yesterday that he has been receiving threatening calls from unknown persons since Sunday and dispelled reports that he had been kidnapped.
Rumours had been flying wildly last evening that the proprietor of MFK Trading on Hadfield Street had been kidnapped but when contacted; he dispelled the rumours and told Stabroek News that he had received a lot of calls from concerned persons about this and expressed surprise about how such news had spread so quickly.
He however said that since Sunday he had been receiving threatening phone calls from unknown persons who stated that “we coming foh you”. He said that in all he received three calls, including two yesterday.
The businessman said that the caller told him that he (Khan) was a friend of Oliver Hinckson and has connections with the killers at Lusignan and Bartica and had threatened that “we coming for you”. He stated that the caller had also said that he had “hooligans”, working at MFK Trading and he “had no problem in going into Congress Place and being protected by Congress Place”.
Khan said that the calls were a recurrence of similar calls that he had received during the crime wave. The businessman stated that yesterday he received a number of calls from persons including police officials, politicians and relatives inquiring about the “kidnapping” and whether he was safe.
“I don’t have those connections”, he asserted stating that he would not like what happened to Farouk Kalamadeen to happen to him. He expressed concern that the callers had stated that “we coming for you” stating that the mere fact that they made that threat was something that should not be taken lightly.
He said that since he had spoken to only a few persons about the calls, he was surprised at how the rumours spread.
