An indigenous women’s conference focusing mainly on issues affecting women in Amerindian communities countrywide will be held from October 9 to 11.
The conference will focus on efforts to empower women and include them in the decision making process in various communities and at the national level.
The Conference is being held one month after an Amerindian girl died on her first day back to school when she topped into a pit latrine in Santa Rosa.
Ashamed and disgraced, Government has since refused to allow private donations of flush toilets to the school, while stating that pit latrines represent the natural path for a developing countries and Guyana was no different.
However, under the flush, the Government said they will now provide flush toilets, but when? We don't know.
